There is something dubious about the claim of "squandering one's potential". It carries an implicit assumption of occupational snobbery which is theoretically not an American value. Aside from the obvious point that we could do without physicists a lot better then we could do without mothers.
It also begs the question of why "fulfilling ones potential" might be superior or even equal to being happy in priority. How is "potential" defined? And what is it's objective(the word potential implies the possibility of fulfillment). If all "potential" means is status, as one suspects it does, then why berate Mormon mothers for being indifferent towards it?
