But he looks so normal |

The Associated Press's coverage of Tullian Tchividjian's appointment to succeed D. James Kennedy shows just how stereotyped Christians are by the media. After proclaiming that Tchividjian, a grandson of Billy Graham, could be a "softening" influence on Coral Ridge Presbyterian, the writer seems quite puzzled to discover that the new young pastor actually believes the same things Kennedy did. After all, "his hair is spiky, his beard sometimes scruffy, his skin tan."
I guess he missed the seminary class on "How to Look Like a Proper Evangelical."

Maybe we Christian just need to befriend more reporters, so they know we don't really look all that different from everyone else. Of course, if we look TOO much like everyone else, especially in the way we act, that might be part of the problem.

Maybe we should befriend more reporters. Kind of like befriending publicans and sinners.

I am sure others greatly desire a softening influence on the Church. Just as I am sure Xerxes wished for a softening influence on Sparta.
