- "People of the Book"
- "A summer of agony and the mystery of loss" (via Some Have Hats)
- "'Fireproof' has strong debut in theaters"
- "Towelhead and the Normalization of Sex with Children" (via Dirty Harry's Place)
- "Anorexia: Too young even to understand the word . . ."
- "Lapsing into a Comma"
- "Forget Cool: Paul Newman Knew How to Play It Smart"
- "The Clbuttic Mistake: When obscenity filters go wrong" (profanity/vulgarity)
OK, Lynne Truss explicitly in this Daily Roundup (via "Lapsing into a Comma"), and Lynne Truss implicitly in the Daily Roundup from September 25th (via "Greetings from vulgar Britain: Offensive and obscene cards shame our country"). Both "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" and "Talk To The Hand" are hilarious and timely books (although "Talk To The Hand" deals with *extremely* offensive topics, often in an offensive way), but is something more at work here? Is it a subtle plug for the new book "Twenty-Odd Ducks", perhaps? http://www.amazon.com/Twenty-Odd-Ducks-every-punctuation-counts/dp/0399250581/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1222725859&sr=1-3
I refuse to even speculate that PFM could get a percentage of sales from Ms. Truss. But with this kind of coverage, you certainly should... :-)
Or is Gina slyly proffering her Christmas wish list? Only 2.5 months to go, after all.

Believe it or not, I didn't know about "Twenty-Odd Ducks" -- but I do now! Thanks for the tip! :-)

I was saddened by Paul Newman's passing. He was the first movie star I ever had a crush on (I think I was 12 or 13), and I watched him age with grace and humor, wisely using his fame for worthy philanthropic causes. I'm sure he would favor some of his more serious film roles as his personal favorites, but I will forever think of him as Ari Ben Canaan in Exodus. The man was a genuine hero, not just a silver-screen version. He will be missed.
