I'm not sure which is more shocking: that the director of Basic Instinct and Showgirls thinks that Jesus was a rapist's child, or that the director of Basic Instinct and Showgirls "holds a doctorate in mathematics and physics from the University of Leiden."

Isn't it true that when anyone with a Dutch surname speaks on a religious topic, it automatically touches off rioting and death threats directed to both themselves and all their acquaintances?
Oh, wait...
And I used to work with people who had Ph.D.s in Medicine, but who were amazingly incompetent at other areas of life. We used to say they were "brilliant, but not very smart".
And a colleague of mine who has a doctorate in physics but who works in software justifies his current career by asking "Guess who hires theoretical physicists? Theoretical employers, of course." Paying off those student loans has caused many to get employment outside their major. "Hmmm, maybe if I make hyper-violent, sexually explicit films I can get lots of money from male moviegoers, and pay off that useless double-major."
At least James Cameron won some Oscars, for crying out loud. If we're going to have ridiculous theories about Christianity put on film, let's have them from someone with some chops.
