A Christmas meme

I swiped this meme from Karen Hall (and having received it as an e-mail before that, I was all ready with my answers). I've put my responses below -- put yours in the comment section!

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?

2. Real tree or artificial?

3. When do you put up the tree?
During or shortly after Thanksgiving.

4. When do you take the tree down?

5. Do you like eggnog?
A little!

6. Favorite gift received as a child?
The doll I got when I was two.

7. Do you have a nativity scene?
A carved wooden one my dad bought in Vietnam. (CORRECTION: I've just been told it was actually Korea.)

8. Hardest person to buy for?
My grandmothers.

9. Easiest person to buy for?
My sister. Anything with a Coca-Cola or M&M logo will do!

10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
I plead the Fifth. It's something too embarrassing to mention in public. Plus there's just a chance that the person or persons who gave it to me might read this.

11. Mail or email Christmas cards?

12. Favorite Christmas Movie?
It's a Wonderful Life.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
Whenever I start spotting things that I know people will like.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
Peanut butter fudge. (Recipe available upon request.)

16. Clear lights or colored on the tree?
Currently clear, though I like either.

17. Favorite Christmas song?
Too many to name!

18. Travel for Christmas or stay home?
Stay home.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeers?
Yes, but if I did that would spoil it for all of you!

20. Angel on the tree top or a star?
Currently a star.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
Used to be Christmas morning, now, for logistical reasons, Christmas Eve.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year?
The way the stores and the TV commercials invariably use the very ugliest and most annoying Christmas songs.

23. What I love most about Christmas?
Celebrating the birth of the Savior of the world.

Your turn!

1. paper
2. Always has been real until this year. We got a real one and it was dead in a week. After removing all of the decorations, lights, and taking down the tree we just couldn't stomach another real tree, so we got an artificial one. It's very nice - pre-lit, and it went up in about 5 minutes! I think I'm a convert!
3. The Friday after Thanksgiving
4. We shoot for January
5. Yuck
6. Sparkly Santa Claus ornament purchased for me the year I was born
7. Yes, it's been collected for me over the years
8. My mother-in-law
9. My mom
10. A bright red winter coat a la the snowsuit from "A Christmas Story" ("I can't put my arms down!")
11. mail
12. It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol (the B&W 1951 version), The Grinch, Holiday Inn.....
13. About a month before Christmas
14. Absolutely!
15. My Dad's homemade Sandtarts with a cup of hot tea(recipe available upon request)
16. Both, we have two trees
17. Current favorite is "Joy to the World" on Bebo Norman's new Christmas CD
18. Stay home. Family comes to us
19. Yep, but I don't want to ruin it for anyone else either (just sing "Rudolph")
20. Star
21. One on Christmas eve, the rest Christmas morning
22. How fast it comes and goes
23. The beautiful Christmas story

My favorite thing to do is have a cake and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. The most annoying thing is atheist in the family put a damper on the day. Just because as a guest in someone else's home I can't say "Thank You Jesus" outloud.
