Stupid question here, but why do you hate Ramesh Ponnuru?

Sam,
I definitely do not hate Ramesh Ponnuru. At least from his writing, I think very highly of him. (This post would have made more sense if it was pub'd after another post I've got "in the can", in which I note my high regard for Ponnuru's opinions. That was, actually, my intent. But the Wail-Inducing Editor is holding that other post over until tomorrow.)(Gina, Gina, Gina... you really want some trouble, don't you...)
But I only just learned that Ramesh is only 33 years old, which strikes me as very young, given his accomplishments.
Since I'm 36, looking down the barrel at 40, I now bemoan the success of those who are both young and especially accomplished.
Like that Facebook guy! What is he, 24?? Dirty rotten...

Ooooops. Blew it again. :-) Sorry, Allen.

Allen, we are the same age...and I apologize in advance for making you feel old. Bobby Jindal, who will soon be inaugurated as Louisiana's governor, is only 36.

Chris,
Well, now I'm torn. On the one hand, I want to despise Jindal for his young success. On the other, he is representing our birth year cohort.
Is it weird to have birth year spirit?
Birth Class of 1971 Rules!!
(...which reminds me of the scene from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure when that popular oaf blows his presentation at the high school assembly and - in order to recover - shouts "SAN DIMAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RULES!!")

Allen, I would commend to you one of my father's favorite sayings: Age and treachery will always defeat youth and skill.

Allen,
A little perspective is helpful in these matters: you are a begrudger. But remember, for the 40+ crowd, you are also a begrudgee! And yes, I am in the 40+ crowd...but just barely. :)

"I'm a begrudgee?? Woohoo!" - Homer Simpson*
*(Actually, I know of no episdode in which Homer Simpson said this, but it seems rather unlikely that he never has.)
Likewise, Gina's saying seems similarly perfect. I imagine this saying to be a mantra that Dear Leader ... sorry, Dear Editor ... repeats each morning to get pumped up for a day of non-stop Wail-Inducing.
